Epic Theatre Ensemble, along with thousands of other arts organizations in New York City, is threatened by the proposed 67% budget cut to the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs. If you are a NYC Resident, you can sign the Petition below to urge the NYC Council and Mayor Bloomberg to restore this funding. As you'll see in petition language, this kind of drastic cut would be extremely detrimental to our city's cultural landscape. Please sign today!
Dear Speaker Quinn,
I am an audience member, supporter and/or arts education student of Epic Theatre Ensemble. I understand that there is a 67% proposed cut to the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) budget for the coming year and I strongly urge you to fully restore this funding.
I know that like Epic, there are thousands of other arts organizations in New York City that strongly rely on government support for their public programming. I believe it would be a great mistake to cut funding to these essential programs, as reduced funding will cause these companies to cut back on the size and scope of their programming.
As a New York City resident, I greatly value the arts in our city and arts education in our schools. One of the things I love most about this city is all the free arts events, concerts, theatre, open studios and artists that make our city exciting. If NYC loses arts funding, our artists and the creative workers who support them will have no choice but to go elsewhere. We cannot expect to remain a cultural capital of the world if we lose our artists to other places. Please help restore this funding today! Thank you.
