DISPATCHES FROM (A)MENDED AMERICA

by Brandt Adams and Godfrey L. Simmons Jr.

Directed by Ron Russell

In the month leading up to the 2009 Presidential Inauguration, Godfrey L. Simmons, Jr., a 42-year-old black man, and Brandt Adams, a 25-year-old white man, traveled throughout the American South conducting 100 interviews in an attempt to better understand the significance of the election of America’s first African American President. The interviews were digitally recorded and crafted into an exciting new documentary theatre piece.

HOLD THESE TRUTHS

by Jeanne Sakata

Inspired by a true story. During World War II in Seattle, University of Washington student Gordon Hirabayashi agonizes over U. S. government orders to forcibly remove and mass incarcerate all people of Japanese ancestry on the West Coast.  As he struggles to reconcile his country’s betrayal with his passionate belief in the U. S. Constitution, Gordon journeys toward a greater understanding of America’s triumphs---and a confrontation with its failures.
