Epic was founded in 2001 by artists Zak Berkman, Melissa Friedman, Teri Lamm, Craig Rovere, Ron Russell, Shaheen Vaaz, and James Wallert. From 2003, Berkman, Friedman, Russell, and Wallert led the company until Berkman left in 2011 to become Associate Artistic Director of People's Light and Theatre.
Epic begins its second decade with Russell continuing as Executive Director, Friedman as Artistic Director and Wallert as Associate Artistic Director. They are joined by Epic's first Managing Director, Robert Chelimsky, as well as Will Pomeranz as Associate Director of Programming, Heather Cohn as Director of Development, and supported by a small but inspired artistic and administrative staff and dedicated Board of Directors.
