Widowers’ Houses

March 4 – April 8, 2007: World Premiere

WIDOWERS’ HOUSES by George Bernard Shaw

Adapted by Ron Russell and Godfrey L. Simmons, Jr.
directed by Ron Russell

In the tradition of Epic’s heralded revivals of J.B. Priestley’s Time and the Conways and Ibsen’s Little Eyolf, Ron Russell and Godfrey L. Simmons, Jr.’s adaptation of Shaw’s first play moves the action from the tenements of London in 1892 to the projects of Harlem one hundred years later. Part farce, part family drama, and part social inquiry, Epic’s production infuses this classic examination of the politics of housing for the poor with a contemporary setting and a hip-hop score.
