 | Godfrey L. Simmons, Jr. is Artistic Director of Ithaca’s community-based theater company, Civic Ensemble, and a Senior Lecturer at Cornell University's Performance and Media Arts Department. A former Producing Artist for Epic Theatre Ensemble, he co-wrote Dispatches From (A)mended America with Brandt Adams, an examination of the hopes, fears and dreams of the American South during the month leading up to President Barack Obama’s 2009 inauguration. Simmons was featured in American Theatre’s “20 Theatre Workers You Should Know.” Godfrey is a 2012 TCG/Fox Fellow and was a participant in the SPARK Leadership Program, funded by American Express, The Joyce Foundation and The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and administered by Theatre Communications Group. He is a lifetime member of Ensemble Studio Theatre. |
